How to make Idli and Dosa batter at home naturally

Ingredients :

  • Udad Dal (without Skin) - 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Fenugreek Seed ( Methi) - 1 teaspoon
  • Rawa rice - 3 cups


Method :

  1. Wash the Udad Dal and Methi seeds together for 2 to 3 times and soak for 6 to 8 hours.
  2. Grind the dal mix until the paste is smooth. 
  3. Mix the mixture in a spoon (better by hand) for five to ten minutes
  4. Add the Rawa rice with the above batter and mix properly and keep aside for 10 to 12 hours for fomentation.

Tips : 

  • Add cold water while making the dal paste. This will help to make a good fomentation for idli Or Dosa batter. 
  • If it is winter or weather is cold then the fomentation would be delayed up to 24 hours or more.
