How to make Kanika Bhog or yellow rice at home

  


This recipe is quick to prepare, easy to make in every house hold and it's very healthy too.

Ingredients

  • White Rice (small size preferred) : 200 gm                                         
  • Coconut (chopped) : 20 gm
  • Turmeric powder : 2.5 gm
  • Ghee : 15 gm
  • Jagerry : 15 gm (can take extra if you like it a little sweeter)
  • Cumin seeds : 5 gm
  • Garam masala powder : 10 gm
  • Water(hot) :400 ml
  • Salt : to taste


Method

  1. Wash the rice two or three times and dry it for 10 mins.
  2. Heat a rice cooking vessel (Handi) and add cumin seeds. Wait for 10 seconds, to get cumin seeds roasted or until a nice fragrance appears.
  3. Add ghee and thereafter add the rice. Fry in low flame for two to three minute.
  4. Add water and stir for it two rounds.
  5.  Add salt, turmeric, jagerry, coconut, garam masala and stir it until mixed properly.
  6. Wait unit full boil and thereafter tightly cover the pot and make sure the air shouldn't pass outside( you can put a heavy metal to prevent air going out). Switch off the flame and let it cook for 10 mins in the heat.

 Serve with any type of curry/khata .
